Wednesday at Kexp

Hello!

Today I volunteered at Kexp! It was a slow days since alot of the staff are down In San Francisco for a remote radio broadcast. We had a contest during a pledge drive and San Francisco won. We had a great band stop by--The Department of Eagles. They did a great show. They were super nice guys and posed for a picture with me. I also took some shots of various friends around the station.

I also wanted to mention that I am working on organizing a website that we can all use to connect. It would only allow access to family members that I invite so we could put up photos and keep in touch. It will be by invite only to read so that we can keep it private. That way it wouldn't just be my blog--It would be all of ours. I will send links and info to everybody when I get it figured out. I need email addresses for Kelly, Kayla,Patrick and cousin Lori. NIck's Birthday is Tuesday!

Great Weekend!

I had a busy but fun weekend!   Kexp--my radio stn--had two private afternoon concerts for our members.   Yesterday was The Walkmen and today was Neko Case.  I really loved the show today. Neko Case plays alt country music--she has an amazing voice.  Her backup singer is Kelly Hogan--a girl I knew in Atlanta.  She is fantastic and they harmonize so well together.  I will put up a link of one of her songs.  I was able to go backstage and hang out with Kelly--we had fun catching up.  I took some photos so you could check her out.  They are so busy--they were only in Seattle for that show and were heading to Portland right after the show.  

After the show I hung out with my friend Deb(a volunteer from Kexp), her husband, and their friend who manages shows at the club.  I had a virgin bloody mary --yum!  A good day and home by 3 in the afternoon--perfect!

Last night, I went to an amazing inauguration celebration!  It was something I'll never forget!  There was gospel,opera,jazz and spiritual music.  Ernestine Anderson is an amazing jazz musician-she is 80 years old and rocked the house!   Everyone danced,clapped and sang!

MLK day!

I hope everybody is having a good MLK day!  I am heading to the foodbank to donate for my day of service.   Gwen and I are gathering cans and dropping them off this afternoon.   First we are heading out for coffee and then running some errands.  It is a beautiful sunny day in Seattle so we will probably walk to Lighthouse for coffee.  No rehab today because of the holiday so walking will be good.  

Tomorrow a bunch of us are going to Town Hall for an inauguration party!   It is going to be amazing.  They are replaying the inauguration on the big screen and then there will be all kinds of music.  Ernestine Anderson--jazz legend is headlining.  There is also going to be gospel and opera. A friend of mine from the station is hosting the event.  I can't wait!

Monday

I had a great time with Kelly and Forrest.  We did the basic Seattle tourist stuff.  Coffee, Fremont(pictures with the troll), Ballard, and the EMP and Science Fiction musuem.  They also hit Canada and the Pike Place Market.   They left yesterday and are probably still recovering from the flight and Jetlag.  

I had a good workout today and tomorrow I am headed to the transplant support group.  I haven't been to the last few meetings so I thought I would check in with them.  The meetings can get frustrating since alot of the post transplant folks enjoy talking about how much they've been through.  It is not always encouraging for those of us waiting for our transplants.  I think my friend Muffy is going to be there so I want to talk to her about her recent transplant.  She is doing so great and may even be back to workout with us next week.

I will try to update during the week.  I am also posting some photos from the EMP.

Tuesday-Kelly's here

Hello everybody!   

Kelly and her friend Forrest arrived in Seattle yesterday.  We hooked up today and it was great to see them!  We started with coffee at the Lighthouse and then explored Fremont(my neighborhood).  We checked out the troll under the Aurora Bridge and grabbed lunch in downtown Fremont.  Tomorrow they are headed to Vancouver in British Columbia. It is a 3 hour drive and a whole different world than Seattle.    I am going to volunteer at the radio station so that works out perfectly.  We will meet up on Thursday and plan to hit the Space Needle, EMP music museum and the Pike Place Market before they leave on Sunday.  We are just going to play it by ear and see what they are up for.
