Great Weekend!

I had a busy but fun weekend!   Kexp--my radio stn--had two private afternoon concerts for our members.   Yesterday was The Walkmen and today was Neko Case.  I really loved the show today. Neko Case plays alt country music--she has an amazing voice.  Her backup singer is Kelly Hogan--a girl I knew in Atlanta.  She is fantastic and they harmonize so well together.  I will put up a link of one of her songs.  I was able to go backstage and hang out with Kelly--we had fun catching up.  I took some photos so you could check her out.  They are so busy--they were only in Seattle for that show and were heading to Portland right after the show.

After the show I hung out with my friend Deb(a volunteer from Kexp), her husband, and their friend who manages shows at the club.  I had a virgin bloody mary --yum!  A good day and home by 3 in the afternoon--perfect!

The first photo is me with Kelly Hogan(sings with Neko Case) and the second is me with Terri(plays drums in Walkabouts and sang for Transmissionary Six) and Jim(good friend from Kexp).

Happy Monday!

I haven't heard the name Kelly Hogan for what ten or fifteen years. Did she use to sing at Eddie's Attic with Andrew Hira and Christian Bush? I remember her having a fantastic voice!

Hey Chris-
She used to play alot at Star Bar--she did alot of Duke Ellington,Patsy Cline, etc. She was also in a band called Jody Grind. Then she moved to Chicago. She has solo records on Bloodshot label and has been backing up Neko Case for a awhile.

We had fun catching up--she was a Yacht club regular. I remember I used to date one of her good friends and we would have slumber parties and they would sing NIrvana songs. Good memories!

That's right. I do remember her. I was thinking of the Wagon Wheels. You did drag me into the Star Bar many times.
